HTC’s Monday morning press conference last week at MWC ended with a Q&A session. The company had just launched two sexy new phones chock full of industrial design refinements, practical new features, and some very cool updates to their Windows Mobile-based TouchFlo 3D user interface. The entire dog and pony show, as it were, was about Windows Mobile: two new devices running WM 6.1, ready to be upgraded to WM 6.5, and featuring a refined version of HTC’s TouchFlo 3D, a WinMo-only custom UI.

After a lot of delays, 3G services will be finally inaugurated in Chennai which is located in the southerns part of India on BSNL network. The inauguration ceremony will be handled by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu State and the first 3G call will me mae by Mr. Raju, the minister for Information and Broadcasting. These 3G services will be available only on BSNL as of now. There is no news on other operator’s plans to go for these services. Before BSNL, MTNL launched 3G services on its network in the month of December 2008. Even this launch from BSNL is a delayed launch, the company was supposed to launch it in the month of December but MTNL got it before them. Their motto is “Stick Together,” after all and when the rumored plans launch, loyal T-Mobile customers will have a reason to stay with the carrier. Coming shortly, the company plans to offer a set of “loyalty” plans, designed to woo existing customers away from the thought of joining “The Network” or the company with the “fewest dropped calls.” Beginning on March 1st, individual lines would start at $50 for unlimited minutes, caller ID, three-way calling, and voicemail.

As all of you must be aware that, GSMA Global Mobile Awards were given at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2009 and 3 INQ1 won the award for Best Mobile Handset for 2009. Nokia E71 was also given special mention and appreciation in this category. I am sure that many of us, especially in India have heard of 3 INQ1 handset for the first time. So let me tell you why this handset has this very unique name, the handset is made by Amoi and is called INQ1 and is made for 3 UK so the name 3 INQ1.

A malicious worm in China is on the loose and is targeting Symbian based Nokia mobile phones. The worm is being spread through mobile messages and is named as “SymbOS/Yxes.A!worm”. The worm is also known as Sexy View and is only targeting Nokia devices in China running S60 3rd Edition. It seems that some developer or brainy geek is damn pissed off with Nokia in China as this problem has not been heard in any other country. The worm’s distribution pattern is also unique as it is using the SMS path where as earlier attacks on mobile phones happened through MMS or emails, which allow attachments.
