Few days back there was a mother of all rumors that, Ericsson was moving out of the Sony Ericsson JV and Sony was buying its stake thus becoming the 100% owner of the company . To everybody’s relief, spokesperson from Ericsson, Minako told news sources that Ericsson is strongly committed to the JV with Sony and they do not have any plans as such to abandon the JV. Though Sony Ericsson is going to face huge lossess due to declining sales, both the companies are committed to the JV and we will see more Sony Ericsson phones coming in the future.

We reported on the E71 landing at Cincinnati Bell, however AT&T customers and S60 fans who have waited on the phone for what seems like an eternity can rest easy - it’s on the way. Arriving at AT&T stores across the nation and on track for a March 24th release, the E71x (in a good looking black color, we might add) is rumored to be priced at $199 after mail-in rebate.

According to market research firm Gartner, worldwide sales of smartphones totaled 38.1 million units in the fourth quarter of 2008–a year-over-year increase of 3.7%–and accounted for 12% of all mobile phones sold in the period. |
