Soon Samsung’s Ultra Touch phones will come with toughened glass surfaces. Conrning Incorporated, which makes specialty glass surfaces for display devices, has tied up with Samsung and will be providing its Gorilla Glass surfaces that will go into Samsung’s Ultra Touch Phones. As the name suggests, the glass is better than the rest of the glasses which you fins and is being used my many consumer electronic devices. The Gorilla glass is a specially toughened glass and has many features, which you won’t find in a normal glass. This glass will allow the touch screen to handle more pressure as compared to any other glass. Gorilla glass has a layer of chemical strengthning, which makes the glass strong and damage resistant. Dashing onto the scene today, the T-Mobile Dash 3G is officially available on the T-Mobile website. Looking somewhat similar to the HTC Snap with Sprint (they are related, after all), the device offers a full QWERTY keyboard with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, built-in Wi-Fi, GPS, Exchange support, and of course, Windows Mobile 6.1. Starting at $349.99 full retail, the device is available for $169.99 with a two-year agreement.

Analysts from the Generator Research think that Nokia, which is the biggest and strongest smart phone market player would see the ground in 2013. According to these analysts, NOkia which enjoys around 40% market share today will have to be happy with 20% by 2013. On the other hand, the research highlights that Apple will gain 33% share of the smart phone market and will leave Nokia behind soon. So come 2013 and you might see the rules of the smart phone market completely changed. Now, the most important question is, Will such thing happen by 2013? Answer is, these things will happen only if, Nokia sits on their asses and does not do anything about their smart phones, which is really hard because every time Nokia is coming up with something new and they play on volumes and have strong hold in European as well as emerging markets. The research analysts must have taken too optimistic projections for Apple and too pessimistic projections for Nokia. It’s cool that T-Mobile is offering some personalization options to make the Android-based myTouch 3G look a little cooler (custom cases? custom back panel printing? hard to tell). It’s not cool that myTouch is basically a rebadged HTC Magic and not the newer, better, BETTER HTC Hero. Also, if it really launches at $199 on contract, that’s twice what an iPhone 3G costs.
