Kevin from CrackBerry just posted a hands-on video with an early version of Verizon’s forthcoming BlackBerry Storm 9550 - aka Storm 2. That SurePress clickable screen is still there, but Kev says it’s much better than the first iteration. This early model runs more or less the same software as the current Storm, but has more memory and the overall hardware is “much nicer,” as well. There are lags and kinks and bugs to be ironed out before launch, for sure, but maybe there’s still hope for an all-touch BlackBerry that’s actually usable. Read the rest of this entry »

In this video, I cover mail, messaging, and Twitter. I’ll be back on Tuesday with more, but I’m not sure what to cover next. The browser? The camera? Keep sending me your questions. Someone wanted to know about syncing Yahoo contacts. As far as I can tell, Funambol is the best solution, though i admit I haven’t tried it for Yahoo! sync.

The pay per second model has really paid of well for the latest entrant in the Indian GSM space, Tata-DoCoMo. Tata-DoCoMo is the joint venture between India based Tata Teleservices and Japanese mobile giant NTT DoCoMo. Its the only GSM operator in India, who charges per second rate of 1 paise. So, if you speak for say 1 min 20 seconds you will be charged 1 rupee 20 paise. When it comes to other operators, you will be charged for 2 minutes even though you have spoken for 1min 20 seconds. This new pricing strategy from Tata-DoCoMo will certainly change the rules of the GSM game, which is dominated by AirTel and Vodafone. Tata-DoCoMo is also in talks with their joint venture partner NTT DoCoMo and you will soon see mobile handsets being offered from Tata DoCoMo along with the various GSM plans. Tata-DoCoMo has launched its GSM network in 5 regions, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, AP, Kerala and Orissa and they are aiming for a Pan-India presence by the end of October

The eagle has landed. I finally got my Google Voice invitation on Wednesday and boy, was I happy. Within twenty seconds I was searching for numbers containing favorable words in my area code. Yeah, I know it’s actually more difficult to dial by letter on many mobiles these days, but I wanted something cool and memorable. Wouldn’t you?
