RIM will be launching the BlackBerry PlayBook and its QNX-powered operating system next month, but outside of a statement from a RIM exec claiming that QNX will eventually replace the BlackBerry OS on smartphones, there hasn’t been much indication as to what RIM plans to do when it comes time to bring QNX to its handsets. After Apple announced the dates for WWDC, we heard one report claim that the event would be strictly software-focused, meaning there wouldn’t be a new iPhone shown off like we’ve seen in the past few years. Barnes & Noble’s Nook Color has always been a bit more of an eReader than an Android slate unless you decided to hack it, anyway but thanks to an update coming next month, the Nook Color will turn into something that’s a lot closer to the tablet that a lot of folks want it to be. Yesterday a rumor claimed that the Motorola DROID X could be updated to Android 2.3 as soon as next week , but now it looks like DX owners may still be left wondering where their Gingerbread is when March 28th rolls around. According to @PydePypper on Twitter, the Gingerbread build that was set to roll out next week was rejected by Verizon, so now it must go back to Moto to endure fixes that could delay the DX’s 2.3 launch by around another month or so.
