It was Apple only recently made its iPhone available on a carrier other than AT&T here in the U.S., but according to some photos that leaked earlier today, the Cupertino-based firm may be testing its handset for use on another of the big four U.S. carriers. According to a batch of images sent over to BGR, Apple has been hard at work testing a prototype white iPhone that works with T-Mobile’s 3G bands here in the U.S. The device is sporting the moniker “N94,” which is higher than the AT&T’s… Read the rest of this entry »

The recent lawsuit filed by Apple against Samsung seems to be a hot topic these days, so we decided to discuss it during PhoneDog Live . Both sides have their arguments and reasonable points. Apple makes millions of dollars selling products that are related to a particular brand and identity, with certain design elements being a part of that identity. You could say they’re simply trying to protect that brand. Samsung on the other hand could make the argument that Apple did not invent square… Read the rest of this entry »

RIM’s annual event, BlackBerry World (formerly known as WES ), is being held in Orlando, Florida on May 3-5. A few years ago there was always a lot going on for the Waterloo-based company (device launches, rumored devices making appearances, etc.), especially right before a big event.
This year has undoubtedly been a slow one for RIM, especially on the new device front. There were a few leaks over the past few months, but nothing particularly mind-blowing or out of the ordinary, and… Read the rest of this entry »

We haven’t heard much about the Samsung Infuse 4G ever since it was announced way back in January, but it appears that the 4.5-inch superphone may finally be close to launch. Samsung and AT&T haven’t given up any release details on the Infuse 4G just yet but, according to a Walmart circular handed over to the folks at Android Central, the device will be landing sometime next month for $178.88, most likely with a two-year contract. As a quick refresher, the Infuse 4G packs a 4.5-inch, 800×480… Read the rest of this entry »

Aaron takes a look at the T-Mobile G2x , LG’s first smartphone and what is possibly the best Android device on the market at the moment.  It sports a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, 4-inch WVGA display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording, front-facing camera for video calling, and a stock build of Android 2.2.  While it seems small for a dual-core device, the 1,500 mAh battery does a great job of powering the device through the day with moderate use. It’s a… Read the rest of this entry »

Apple has done a good job of keeping to schedule; not only with their iPhone lineage, but also their laptops and computers, iPod line-up, and iPad family. They’ve done such a good job of it, in fact, that people expect there to be a new Apple-branded product on the market at specific times in the year, even if they don’t consciously know the dates it’s supposed to happen. In the summer we’ve got a new iPhone, and in the fall we’re subject to a new iPod… Read the rest of this entry »

After what seems like an eternity of rumors, leaks, behind-glass demonstrations, and more, the BlackBerry PlayBook is finally available in retail stores.  Announced at DEVCON 2010, the PlayBook is RIM’s foray into the tablet market, and the first product to run on their new QNX platform.  It’s intended to be a “new beginning” for RIM, whose reputation has been tarnished a bit as of late due to lackluster devices like the BlackBerry Torch. The PlayBook is available in 16, 32,… Read the rest of this entry »

The first 3D tablet is here!  Aaron takes a look at the T-Mobile G-Slate , the US version of the LG Optimus Pad and the first of many 3D devices to come.  It sports a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 8.9-inch display, stereoscopic 5-megapixel cameras for shooting 3D content, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling, and Android 3.0.  The G-Slate is able to record HD video in 1080p, and 3D video in 720p. Additionally, it’s the first product to run on the… Read the rest of this entry »

The HTC DROID Incredible 2 launch date appears set for April 28th, and now it seems that the Samsung DROID Charge may be joining the DInc 2 on that date. According to a leaked roadmap sent over to Droid-Life, the Charge will make its grand debut on the 28th, which just so happens to be the same date that the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY has been rumored to be arriving, too. Unfortunately, there has been speculation that that device may have been bumped back due to the recent earthquakes in Japan…. Read the rest of this entry »

BlackBerry fanatics have had it pretty good lately. We’re just days away from the BlackBerry PlayBook finally, finally launching, and we’ve had a cornucopia of leaks lately featuring all kinds of unannounced products from RIM. Just in case you still haven’t had enough leaky goodness, though, we’ve got some more images of the Bold Touch 9900, aka Dakota/Montana, for you to fawn over. In the handful of photos, the Bold Touch shows off both its front and its backside and even stands in for… Read the rest of this entry »
