Though it’s hard to believe in today’s wireless marketplace, there was a time where Android phones weren’t coming out every week.  As recently as 18 months ago, the pace of Android was considerably slower, and anti-iOS customers were waiting for the ultimate Android phone to challenge the reign of the iPhone.  CTIA 2010 brought the HTC EVO 4G , the first real iPhone competitor on the Android platform.  Since then, we’ve seen a flurry of innovation on the Android platform,… Read the rest of this entry »

It seems almost as if there is a new Android device being released every week . In the past month, we have seen the Sensation 4G, LG Revolution, HTC Merge, Droid X2, LG Genesis and more reach consumer hands. On the opposing side of the fence, other companies are churning out devices much slower for smaller, upcoming platforms and it could be slowly taking its toll on them.
Back in February, HP announced the Veer, Pre 3 and TouchPad . Not long after in an interview with Wall Street… Read the rest of this entry »

Building upon the success of flagship Android phones like the EVO 4G, and ThunderBolt, HTC’s at it again with the Sensation 4G .  Available now at T-Mobile, the phone is awesome on paper: 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, and Android 2.3 with HTC Sense 3.0, just to name a few of the high-end specifications.  It’s feature-packed, that’s for sure, but in today’s mobile world, Android phones launch on a weekly… Read the rest of this entry »

Since the beginning of this smartphone boom, America’s wireless networks have been taking the biggest portion of the abuse. All while calling less and less , people have begun using their phones more to browse the web, chat and to keep up with several different social media platforms.
Verizon Wireless is moving to a tiered data structure.
Every time I hear that, I die inside a little bit. Tiered data really shouldn’t come as a surprise though, as the rise of smartphones has spawned… Read the rest of this entry »

From the time I bought my first smartphone , I have had cell phone ADD. Partly due to a short attention span and getting tired of things quickly, partly due to a new phone releasing each week, it has always been hard for me to choose one phone and stick with it for more than a couple months. If I were to take a stab at how many phones I have bought in the past year, I would have to guess somewhere around 20 … or more.
Hello, my name is Taylor and I have a problem.
Here… Read the rest of this entry »

Earlier this month, a leaked Sprint inventory sheet revealed the existence of an LG device named the Optimus Slider, aka Gelato Q, that carried the model number LG700. Now it seems that that same device may be destined for Verizon, as an LG handset just passed through the FCC with support for CDMA/EV-DO on the 850/1900MHz bands and the model number “VS700.” Many LG-made devices with model numbers beginning with “VS” have hit Verizon in the past, like the VS910 LG Revolution, meaning that the… Read the rest of this entry »

Heads up, HTC ThunderBolt owners: the Gingerbread Man cometh (maybe). According to some leaked images sent to Android and Me by a “Verizon insider,” the ThunderBolt will be getting an update to Android 2.3.4 on June 30th. Alongside Gingerbread, the update is said to include Skype Video functionality, support for Google Talk video chat, Sense 2.1, the Amazon Appstore, and a fix for those reboot problems that some TBolt owners have encountered. We’ve already heard that an update to… Read the rest of this entry »

Verizon’s said in the past that it plans to drop unlimited data and make the move to tiered data, and tonight a report has emerged claiming that we’re less than a month off from the change. According to MyDroidWorld and forum member P3Droid, Verizon will be implementing its tiered data plans on July 7th, the day after its free 4G LTE hotspot promotion is scheduled to end. There’s no word on what pricing will be like, but considering we’re just under three weeks away from the possible change, we… Read the rest of this entry »

When it comes to the mobile operating system of choice, it’s not just about the software. We have to hold and use the hardware just as often as we have to make use of the software, after all. And that’s one of the reasons that Android is so attractive to the end user, or the general consumer. There are just so many options . If you’re looking to make Android the next mobile operating system you use on a regular basis, then there’s a lot to consider. For the… Read the rest of this entry »
