Earlier today we learned that Sprint will be upping its early termination fee to $350 on September 9th, but another leak has revealed that that’s not the only big change in store for Now Network customers. The folks at Android Central just got their hands all over the latest edition of the Sprint Playbook, which reveals that the carrier will soon be increasing its upgrade fee, axing one-year contracts, launching a new Android-powered Kyocera handset, and prepping for a new customer rewards… Read the rest of this entry »

Since announcing their plans to quit the mobile hardware business, HP has found themselves frequenting the headlines. They slashed the prices of their remaining webOS devices and have hinted at plans of licensing the software in the not too distant future. Just under two weeks later, we’re hearing that they may bring the tablet back as it is a part of a segment of the market that’s relevant. (Keep in mind that this was only a conjecture from a vague statement from the HP Personal Systems… Read the rest of this entry »

From that sunny day at Mobile World Congress in early February when the Galaxy S II was announced, US customers have been anxious to get their hands on the popular and incredibly powerful Android device. Fortunately, the wait is coming to an end. Tonight’s special event in New York City is widely expected to be the unveiling of not one, but three distinct Galaxy S II devices - one for AT&T , one for Sprint , and one for T-Mobile (apparently, Verizon’s too cool for this… Read the rest of this entry »

Many have written tablets off as overpriced, unnecessary novelty items. (What do you want to bet a large portion of “tablet naysayers went back on their word and snatched a TouchPad last weekend?) Contrary to popular belief and despite essentially being a larger version of my pocket-sized smartphone, tablets do have a place in this world and the affect they’re having on the PC market should serve as a testament. Like it or not, tablets are here to stay and may one day with advancements in… Read the rest of this entry »

Remember when we saw Samsung make the LTE-enabled versions of the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 8.9 official on its Korean Young Samsung site? Well both devices have been made official by Samsung once again, but this time the press release has been made available in English, saving us the trouble of having to run it through ye olde Google Translate. The Galaxy S II LTE has received a couple of notable spec bumps from its non-LTE brother, including a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display (up from 4.3… Read the rest of this entry »

How much is too much? That seems to be a question that the higher-ups at Verizon may be faced with. To narrow it down, these folks have to be wondering how many top-tier; high-end Android-powered phones they can have at any one point in time, before the consumer starts to get a little swamped. Right now, Verizon has three 4G LTE-connected Android-powered devices, all of which aren’t slouches when it comes to the specifications department in their own right. And then we’ve got… Read the rest of this entry »

The whittling down of the featurephone market continues. Recent changes to Sprint and T-Mobile’s featurephone line-up caused us to rearrange our Top Messaging Phones list for those carriers, and now Verizon has decided to discontinue their best messaging phone , the KIN TWOm. Never fear, for we were more than willing to add the TWOm’s little brother (or sister, depending on how you view these sort of things) to the list. The KIN ONEm’s form factor isn’t quite as attractive as the TWOm’s,… Read the rest of this entry »

Well, this is interesting. What you’re looking at above is allegedly a cease and desist letter sent by Samsung that, if it’s legit, confirms the existence of the Nexus Prime . The email was reportedly sent by Samsung’s General Counsel in response to a rumored firmware leak for the Nexus Prime. You can find an image of the email below (and an enlarged version right here ). The meat of the document reads as follows: “It has come to our attention that you are wrongfully in possession… Read the rest of this entry »

Android’s always faced an uphill battle since its release, but the little green ‘droid has managed to do pretty well for itself since then. Android is everywhere, and it’s become a household name. There are many reasons as to why Android has become so popular since its debut, and depending on who you ask it may come down to one detail, or a whole slew of things. But, I think HTC has played a major role in Android’s dominance. And, while we can ask if HTC is still… Read the rest of this entry » |
