So Microsoft finally came forward and showed the next generation of Windows. Sure, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the new OS, but this time around it was a far more in-depth look, especially when it comes to both hardware and software. While nothing is consumer-ready right now, it’s a good way for Microsoft to show the world what they’re working on, and how groundbreaking it is for Microsoft as a whole. Let’s face it – Windows 8 is indeed… Read the rest of this entry »

Hot on the heels of the emergence of the spec sheet for the HTC Bliss, press photos of the device have made their way online, giving us a clear look at the upcoming handset. Additionally, the folks at HTCInside that are responsible for the leak claim the Bliss will be known as the Rhyme when it finally comes to market. That’s a name we saw appear on a leaked Verizon MAP list earlier this month with a $199.99 price tag and possible September 29th launch date. So what can we take away… Read the rest of this entry »

Android comes in a multitude of shapes and sizes. Whether you like a horizontal QWERTY or even a dual-screen phone, there is likely a form factor that suits you. Along with the benefit of a wide variety of phone choices comes a broad selection of price point, too. All is not well, however. This wide array of devices doesn’t always bring praise to Google’s platform.
As you would expect, cheaper phones come severely underpowered by comparison; therefore, performance takes a major hit…. Read the rest of this entry »

According to a source familiar with the suit, Samsung’s complaint is focused on the iPhone 3G , 3GS , and iPhone 4 as well as the 3G-enabled versions of the iPad and iPad 2 . There are reportedly three patents related to UMTS (a type of GSM cellular tech) at the heart of the lawsuit. … Read the rest of this entry »

Ready for a nice rumor to wrap up your Monday evening? The image you see above was allegedly given to a Best Buy employee from a Verizon rep and shows which existing Big Red handsets may be replaced by upcoming devices. For example, the document shows the Samsung Stratosphere replacing the Fascinate, the BlackBerry Curve 9370 replacing the Curve 3G, and the Samsung Illusion taking the place of the LG Vortex and Ally. The two most interesting tidbits about this doc, though, revolve around the… Read the rest of this entry »

We’re quickly approaching the one year anniversary of Windows Phone 7 in the States. Microsoft’s most recent attempt at the mobile market was met with quite a fanfare, but soon fizzled in the midst of the unrelenting onslaught of Android phones. No, Windows Phone 7 was not forgotten. It’s always had potential and equally mind share, but without the extra push from carriers, the lack of some blatantly critical features and a vast selection of devices, Windows Phone 7 has only managed to muster… Read the rest of this entry »

Well, this is interesting. The BlackBerry device you’re looking at above has been making the rounds of the several sites over the past week or so and has been referred to as a BlackBerry R47 or 9980. This mysterious ‘Berry shares a lot of similarities with the Bold 9900, not only spec-wise but also in terms of port placement. That’s lead to a lot of confusion as to whether this device is a cheap knockoff or a bonafide BlackBerry, but according to the folks at CrackBerry, this handset is indeed… Read the rest of this entry »

Android has been put through the wringer and faced some pretty major changes over the course of three years. It landed in consumers hands at version 1.0; and shortly thereafter it was updated to Cupcake (1.5), followed by Donut (1.6) and Eclair (2.0 and 2.1). Now the majority of users are on Froyo (2.2) or Gingerbread (2.3), while tablet owners are running Honeycomb (3.0 through 3.2).
Despite their appetizing nicknames, most of these updates have been pretty drastic. The user interface… Read the rest of this entry »

Get out your calendars, folks, because HTC just sent out invites for an event in New York City on September 20th. The shindig will be kicking off at 9:30 AM, although it’s unclear as to what exactly HTC has up its sleeve for the event. So what might HTC be planning to show off at this event? There’s nothing in the invite to suggest that this will be an Android or Windows Phone 7 -specific gathering, so at this point it seems that just about anything ( HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G , Titan , … Read the rest of this entry »
